Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis Hospital, Delft

At 56,500 m2, the hospital is large, but because of the meandering design, it is really compact. All departments ‘oscillate’ around the central axis, connecting the building components on all floors. This way all departments can be accessed quickly. It also offers room for green patio’s and inner court yards, thus creating additional daylight access and views. Unlike most hospitals, the central corridor and the departments of the Reinier de Graaf receive light from all sides. If not from the side, then from above or through rooms with translucent doors.
